Getting to know people through the back of my camera is truly the best privilege. So much of this business is communication happening through text. Through the blog, on social media, through emails, text messages, etc. I’m an introvert so I don’t hate it. And sometimes I prefer the comfort of hiding behind technology. But communicating online often means we’re meeting people for the first time when we show up to the session. Which is actually kind of crazy!

We do some prep to get to know our clients before the session so that we can get a feel for their personalities. But of course, that’s limited. When we truly get to know our clients is when we get behind our cameras and start photographing. Every personality and relationship we work with is so different. Some couples are bubbly and full of laughter and others are soft and sweet. Taylor and TJ are the best mix of both! Getting to meet them for the first time and getting to know them through my camera was so fun!

Taylor wanted an engagement session location that was light and open, so we met at this beautiful nature park south of Portland. Which by the way, is quickly becoming one of my favorite locations! Despite the misty rain, we had lots of fun walking the trails and traipsing out into the tall grass for photos. These two are so obviously in love with each other that I didn’t even have to try to bring out those romantic vibes in their photos. With every pose and picture, I could see how much they cared for each other. Just look at the way TJ looks at Taylor! It’s so sweet I don’t even have the words! They’re truly perfect for each other and we can’t wait to see them get married!
