This beautiful Inn at Avonlea wedding was full of timeless details, gorgeous scenery, and so much joy!
Catherine and Adam got married this August at the beautiful Inn at Avonlea, which is a stunning country house just outside of Portland. It was seriously such a perfect day, and the sun was shining all day long!
Getting Ready at the Inn at Avonlea
Catherine and Adam both got ready inside the cute little farmhouse on the property at Inn at Avonlea. The owners of Inn at Avonlea actually live there and rent their house and property for weddings in the summer. Catherine was upstairs with her girls, while Adam was downstairs in the basement, affectionately named the Speak-Easy. The atmosphere was so relaxed. The girls had a wedding playlist bumping and everyone was having fun while getting ready for the big day. When it was time for Catherine to get into her dress, everyone was misty-eyed (even me!) at how beautiful she looked.
The Couple
Catherine wore a stunning silhouette sheath wedding dress with lace details along the bodice. Adam wore a grey suit with a lavender tie to match the flowers. Catherine’s dress was L’mour by Calla Blanch, and you guys know I love lace 😍so I was totally obsessed!! Adam also made all of the boutonnieres for himself and his groomsmen and I was totally impressed!
Catherine and Adam chose to have a traditional first look down the aisle, but exchanged letters for each other to read before the ceremony. I love, love, love when couples do this because it’s always such a sweet moment! After everyone was ready we did separate bridesmaid and groomsmen photos outside. Once we had finished all of our photos it was time for the ceremony! The wedding party greeted guests and everyone walked out to the meadow where the ceremony was being held.
The Ceremony
The ceremony was such a sweet service. The arbor was decorated with draped fabric and flower arrangements. It perfectly highlighted the beauty of the meadows and the gorgeous view of Mt. Hood in the background. There were so many personal moments during the ceremony. Each of Adam’s guys gave him a secret handshake as they got up to the top of the aisle which was so fun. They also had a family friend officiate the ceremony for them, and it was so personal and meaningful.
The Party
The reception was in the barn and was decorated beautifully with lavender and photos of the bride and groom from everywhere they’ve traveled together on the tables. The barn also has a stunning chandelier and lights hanging from the ceiling, which looked so magical! For dinner, they served pasta from Ristorante di Pompello, which was absolutely delicious. I always think pasta is a brave choice (because there’s no way I wouldn’t accidentally spill something on my white dress, haha) but it was so so yummy, so I can totally see why Catherine and Adam chose them!
There were so many heartfelt toasts by both Catherine and Adam’s family, and Adam’s dad shared the sweetest words for the couple, including this poem by E. E. Cummings-
i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)
After the toasts, Adam’s family surprised everyone with a choreographed dance to I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers, which had everyone laughing and cheering! This was one of my favorite moments of the whole day because way back when Ted and I were just dating, we’d play this song every time we went on a road trip and sing at the top of our lungs. 💕
Catherine and Adam’s wedding was such a perfect day and so, so much fun. I feel like it’s almost impossible for not even one thing to go wrong on a wedding day, but I swear everything went so smoothly on this day. Or if it didn’t, I didn’t even notice! The whole day was so laid back, everyone was smiling and full of so much joy, and it really was so perfect!
