You guys, how is it already August!? This summer is flying by and I can’t believe we’re almost to the end of our wedding season! All of our couples have been so amazing! Even though we’re now in peek ‘wediting’ season and I’m spending most days in front of my computer, I’m feeling so grateful for everyone who has put their trust in us to capture these beautiful momentous days.
Emily and Justin had an intimate wedding in the woods on a beautiful property owned by Emily’s parents. Emily has dreamt of getting married under those trees since she was a little girl and it was amazing to see her dream come true surrounded by all of their friends and family!
Bride and Groom Prep
Emily and her girls got ready at the Twilight House in Saint Helens, and the atmosphere was so energetic! Everyone was buzzing around prepping for the big day. Emily wore a stunning vintage-inspired wedding gown and beautiful hand-carved dutch wedding clogs. The clogs were a special gift to her from Justin’s Aunt as an homage to the Dutch tradition, and Emily even kept a sixpence in her shoe!
Justin and his guys got ready at a separate location and Ted had a blast photographing their shenanigans! Justin wore a blue suit and matching blue bow tie which looked so perfect paired with Emily’s wedding gown.
After everyone was ready, Emily and her girls rode to the wooded ceremony location in a beautiful 1939 Buick to meet Justin for the first look.
The Ceremony
The ceremony decorations were simple, with a delicate fabric draped tree serving as their arch and ribbon tied chairs for guests to sit in. The surrounding woods provided so much beauty that nothing else was needed! Their pup Finley served as ring bearer and I was obsessed with his cute little bow tie!
During the ceremony, Emily and Justin chose to read their own vows and had everyone laughing and crying along with them. I even got a little misty-eyed too! It was so sweet and emotional for everyone there.
The Reception
The whole day was filled with so many unique and personal touches and the reception was no exception! For dinner, they served Famous Dave’s, which was absolutely delicious! If you love BBQ and comfort food and you haven’t had Famous Daves, then you’re missing out! Ted was ready to go for seconds, haha. The reception also included a kids tent and table for the younger guests and a little petting zoo with a donkey and goats, which were so adorable!
After the reception festivities, everyone got on the dance floor and partied into the night. It truly was such a special and personal day and we loved getting to feel Justin and Emily’s personalities shine through in the details they chose to include!
