People say that time flies, that it all goes so fast, so be sure to stop and savor the moments. That’s advice that I try to live by, but still I’m surprised when little milestones sneak up on us. Over the weekend we had the opportunity to celebrate one of those special milestones; Macy’s first birthday!

I’ve been looking forward to this moment and dreading it simultaneously, for quite some time. It’s been a hard transition for me especially, as I think about how fast the last year has flown by and how quickly our little newborn has grown into a smart and curious one year old. Already, I’ve noticed differences in her and in how she reacts to the world around her that signify her leap into toddlerhood. Ted and I sometimes talk about how we’re excited for that stage and how it’s going to be so fun to watch her learn and grow. But I can’t help but feel nostalgic for the period of her life that has just ended, and the little moments that are now just fleeting memories.

Throughout the past month – as part of my 366 Photo A Day Project – I’ve been working to document Macy’s baby-ness before it slips away, as well as some of my favorite things about her at this current stage of her life.

One of my absolute favorite things is her cute little baby toes, and the way she wiggles them into the gaps and spaces of her highchair.

It’s been fun to watch her learn how her body moves and become more adventurous with her surroundings. I remember she got stuck the first time she climbed into the highchair legs. Nowadays she crawls in and out of them with ease.

I woke her up on accident several times trying to get this photo, but it was so worth it to be able to document her crib days. It’s crazy to me that soon she’ll be moving on from this bed and into a big girl one.

I love the way Macy stands up on her tip toes when she’s trying to reach up high or see above something.

Even on her grumpy days she’s still so cute. The day I took this she had refused both of her naps, and needed some daddy snuggles to help her get sleepy. I couldn’t help but grab my camera and sneak a photo of this sweet moment.

I feel like she has learned so much in the past month. Recently she’s been incredibly excited about putting things inside of boxes and tubs, and then taking them out again.

She looks so grown up to me here.

I’m so in love with her bath time wavy hair.

Happy Birthday sweet girl! I can’t wait to see what this next year brings.

Such sweet images! What a beautiful baby girl. I love that you’ve captured so much of "regular life" here. I’m certain you’ll look back and treasure them!

Oh. My. Goodness. Today, my baby sister’s baby turned 1! She’s going through all of these same things right now. Anyway, your little princess is absolutely ADORABLE and beautiful! These photos are so perfect and make my heart melt in a puddle. Happy birthday to your little baby!
